Peace. Everyone wants it – yet it seems so hard to obtain. Why is that?
At some point in life's journey, we come to realize how inadequate we are to deal with all that life throws our way. At some point we realize the things we fought so hard to attain or to achieve simply did not satisfy our desires or meet our expectations.
Whether we are rich or poor, old or young, healthy or sick, educated or uneducated, at some point we realize that, on our own, we cannot fill the lingering void in our heart. While the pursuits of pleasure, relationships, money, power, and other things may satisfy us for a short time, we ultimately find that the empty longing inside us always returns. Why is that?
Could it be that the longing was always there? Could it be that the void can only be filled by a personal relationship with God?
Did you know that you can have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ? Perhaps you have heard of Him? Perhaps you understand Jesus to be a good man, a good teacher, a moral person. Perhaps you grew up in a Christian home, yet if asked, "Do you know Jesus Christ," you would have to admit that you know more about Him, but you don't know Him personally.
What if God wanted to fill that void, that sense within you that something is inherently wrong, that feeling that there has to be more to this life? What if God wanted to fill that void with true peace? Dear friend, the Peace that you are seeking can only come from personally knowing Jesus Christ as Savior. The Bible calls Jesus the "Prince of Peace."
Isn't it interesting that of all the world religions, only one—Christianity—has a God who pursues us. All others are about us pursuing God. Christianity is more about relationship than religion. He pursued us by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die for each one of us. This God reached out to us in love. All other spiritual pursuits are about us trying to please God through various works and good intentions.

The problem is that we cannot be good enough to please a righteous and perfect God. The problem is that we are terminally ill with sin. Sin is what keeps us from God and from having peace. Sin—missing the mark—is the real problem. And it is a very big problem.
If you are honest with yourself, you don't have to be told that you have sin in your life. You know you're not perfect. You know that your motives are not always right. That is because sin lives in you and you've had it from birth. Have you ever considered that a small child doesn't need to be taught how to lie? Why is it that young children can be very selfish and even cruel? Does this all disappear when we become adults? No, it only gets worse, wouldn't you agree? The truth is that all of us as "children" are born into sin. And because of this, we are separated from God. This, my friend, is why you feel that void in your life.
Here's what the Bible says in Isaiah 59:2 -
"But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear."
Romans 3:23 says it like this -
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Unfortunately there is more bad news. Because of this sin in your life – without it being removed completely, you will spend eternity away from God in a very dark and miserable place. This is a hole that you cannot and will not climb out of on your own.

Now, here is the Good News! God has provided the cure for this disease (sin). God sent His Son to pay the price for your sin – the ultimate price of death – so that you could have life through Him. You can have life because Jesus conquered death by rising from the dead three days after being convicted of a crime He did not commit. He was innocent and without sin. Because of this, He is the only One who can offer us the free gift of Salvation. Only He can save you.
The Bible says that, "He is able to save completely those who come to God through him." (Hebrews 7:25)
But you may ask, "are there not many ways to God?" There are many attempts, but there is only one way. Regardless of which path we may choose to try and reach God, the fact is, there is only one way to find Him.
"There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." (Proverbs 14:12)
Jesus said of Himself, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

Jesus offers us the gift of forgiveness and salvation, but He will not force us to take it. When we respond to Him with sincerity and humility, He will receive us as new children.
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." (Rev 3:20)
"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12)
"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Rom 10:9)
Dear friend, your life can be forever changed today. You can have new life by giving Him your old life. Right now you can receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior by believing in His name and receiving the forgiveness of your sins that He is offering to you. Your destiny will be changed from eternal death to eternal life. When you do this, He will be faithful to give you that peace you have been searching for.
Would you consider asking Him now? There are no specific words you have to say, but the following simple prayer may help you as you call out to Him from your heart.
"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins, and I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You alone as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name. Amen."

If you have put your faith in Jesus Christ to save you, you can know for sure that God heard you and has forgiven your sins. The Bible says:
"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Rom 10:13)
"He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." (1 John 5:12-13)
